Innsbruck Community Day 2026

The Gritt Community Freeride Day brought the Innsbruck freeride scene together for a

bluebird day at Axamer Lizum, just 25 minutes outside Innsbruck city. Organised by Gritt

with Support from The Peanut Butter Club — a women’s snow community based in IBK .

The goal was simple: bring people together, share some laps, and create space for new

connections on the mountain.

After a challenging season marked by unstable snowpacks and high avalanche risk,

conditions finally lined up. Around 20 cm of snow from earlier in the week had settled into

surprisingly fun riding, making the resort terrain the perfect place for a safe and playful

community day. With clear skies overhead and sunshine all day long, the mountain

delivered ideal spring freeride energy.

The morning kicked off with a quick meetup and introductions at the top of the resort

before everyone spread out for warm-up laps. Local riders guided groups toward pockets

of softer snow and steeper terrain, finding playful rock drops and fresh lines along the way.

Thanks to a contest held the previous week, the mountain was stacked with features,

creating a winding top-to-bottom snake run packed with jumps and side hits that quickly

became the favourite of the day. As the landings softened, the session grew, with riders of

all levels joining in and feeding off the shared stoke.

More than 70 skiers and snowboarders rolled through across the day, representing the

diversity that makes the Innsbruck scene so special. Locals mixed with riders from across

Austria, France, the UK, and New Zealand. From people taking their first steps into

freeride to seasoned competitors and even Olympians. The vibe shifted effortlessly

between laid-back cruising, supportive progression, and full-energy jump sessions as new

friendships formed lap after lap.

What stood out most was the strength of the community in Innsbruck. The day wasn’t

about performance or competition, but about connection, meeting new riding partners,

encouraging progression, and building a space where everyone felt welcome on the

mountain.

The day wrapped up with a big car-park BBQ under the evening sun, complete with

sausages, veggie kebabs, salads, and drinks shared between old friends and new ones. A

prize-giving ceremony followed, with generous support from DB, Arc’teryx, and Blue

Tomato, ensuring everyone went home with something.

As the sun set, one question kept coming up: when’s the next one? A clear sign that

community-driven freeride events have a real place in Innsbruck, and hopefully, this is only

the beginning.

Massive thanks to DB, Arc’teryx, Blue Tomato, and event supporters Axamer Lizum, The

Peanut Butter Club, and Soda Zitron for making the day possible.
